Beneath the Scars
Known as the quiet one with the big laugh, Melanie works at a local university and for its football team. Her job, while demanding, is rewarding as she cheers on her team to victory.
While seriously addicted to coffee, and highly challenged with all things computer-related and technical, she relishes baking, cooking, and trying new recipes for people to sample. She loves to throw dinner parties, and also enjoys travelling, here and abroad, but finds coming home is always the best part of any trip.
Melanie delights in a good romance story with some bumps along the way, but is a true believer in happily ever after. When her head isn't buried in a book, it is bent over a keyboard, furiously typing away as her characters dictate their creative storylines to her, often with a large glass of wine keeping her company.
Melanie Moreland has a way with words. Her heart and soul goes into the pages of every book she writes, and Beneath the Scars proves that. This is a story about two people who have been broken. Zachary is jaded, scared, and hates the world. Megan is alone, betrayed, and fighting to regain her balance in a world that seems to have forsaken her. Both are running away, but neither realize that in their running away they are running directly into each other.
This book carries a punch in the gut and the salve to sooth it. I found myself laughing, crying, and about ready to throw my Nook across the room as these two found their way into each others hearts. I feel as if Melanie did her homework, providing each character with a great back story to develop their reasonings for being who they were and who they would become. This is a book I would recommend to anyone who's looking for an emotional read, and anyone who knows me knows that's always the case with me.
P.S. I love when authors make animals characters and give them true personalities. Ms. Moreland succeeded in that aspect, especially Dixie! When a dog has a back story, you know the author is awesome. JS!!
